Our Normal Association
Sweden 2023
Our Normal is a Swedish non-profit association supporting families with children who have disabilities. This project focused on redesigning the annual report as a strategic advocacy tool, shifting the narrative from individual experiences to systemic challenges affecting entire families. Working as part of a team, I contributed to research, concept development, and the design of a clear, accessible, and scalable report structure.
Existing disability reports focused primarily on children’s experiences, while the broader impact on families remained underrepresented. This limited the ability of the report to communicate systemic barriers and influence policymakers, workplaces, and service providers.
We contributed to research through surveys, interviews and workshops with families and stakeholders. The findings revealed systemic challenges affecting daily family life and informed the structure of the new report.
Working collaboratively, we developed “Shifting Perspectives,” a report concept combining storytelling, data, and experience mapping. I contributed to the report structure and visual storytelling, including a “Week in the Life” framework illustrating daily family challenges.
The project created a clear and structured annual report that better communicates the systemic challenges faced by families. The new template provided Our Normal with a scalable format for future reports and strengthened its ability to communicate with policymakers and advocacy stakeholders.
